AAF’s Most Promising Minority Students Program Recap

February 8, 2009

Some of you may know this already, but this past week I was in New York City attending the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF’s) Most Promising Minority Student program. As one of the 40 selected recipients of this award, I was flown down to the city to attend a three-day program.

The program inluded seminars, industry immersions and even a career expo all to help us get started in the advertising industry. I had the chance to talk to recruiters from Arnold, DDB, Deutsch, BBDO, Publicis, Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi, MediaVest, ESPN and so many more. This was a really exciting program as I got to meet so many great people in the industry and get a chance to network. I also made some new friends as well as saw some old friends from the summer. It seemed like almost half of the receipients were MAIP (Multicultural Advertising Intern Program) Alum.

The program ended with everyone watching “In The Heights” on Broadway, which was all paid for by the Publicis Groupe. Congratulations to all the recipients including those on the Honor Roll, and congratulations to Joe Rockhill (Ithaca College alum) who received the AAF MPMS Alumni Rising Star Award. Many thanks to everyone from the AAF, as well as the program sponsors, recruiters, and everyone else who made this a really enjoyable experience. Check back for pictures.
